Claire Brenneman
Being a REALTOR® isn’t just about buying and selling property, it’s about having a seat at the table where decisions are made that affect your business and clients. NMAR ensures your voice is heard at every level of government.
How NMAR Advocates for You
Local Advocacy
NMAR monitors city councils, county commissions, and local boards in Lincoln, Flathead, and Lake Counties to stay ahead of zoning changes, housing policies, and ordinances. Stay informed, adapt quickly, and protect your clients’ interests.
State Level & Nationwide Impact
As an NMAR member, you’re also part of the Montana Association of REALTORS® (MAR), representing thousands across the state, and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR), the largest trade association in the country. Together, they influence laws and policies affecting everything from private property rights to lending regulations to housing supply.
REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC), Invest in Your Profession
Since 1969, RPAC has backed candidates at all levels of government who support REALTOR® interests. Contributions are voluntary, not part of membership dues, and directed toward electing proREALTOR® public officials.
RPAC funding helps:
- Maintain a strong, viable real estate profession
- Protect private property rights by influencing legislation and regulations
- Promote tax and regulatory reforms, infrastructure investment, and common-sense banking policies
Advocacy Outreach, Become Informed & Take Action
As an NMAR member, you can sign up for REALTOR® Party mobile alerts, respond to Calls for Action, contact elected officials about real estate issues, and stay updated on state and local policy developments.
How You Can Be a Part of It
- Invest in RPAC: Voluntary contributions go directly toward electing public officials supportive of REALTORS® and real estate-friendly policy.
- Serve on the NMAR Government Affairs Committee: This committee tracks state legislation and local government actions that affect real estate, a direct way to shape policy and speak for our community. It meets about eight times a year.
- Respond to Calls to Action and stay engaged: Use your voice by joining rallies, contacting local or state officials, or adding your name to position statements when your REALTOR® community needs volume.
Why Advocacy Matters
Real estate is shaped by laws and policies at every level. NMAR ensures you’re not just reacting, you’re influencing. Strong advocacy protects your business, empowers clients, and strengthens the industry.
Pro Tip
Attend advocacy events, join the Government Affairs Committee, or invest in RPAC. Staying informed and involved lets you advise clients confidently and proactively.
