October 31 is the last day to complete your continuing education for the 2026 licensing year. To renew your Montana real estate license, you need at least 12 CE hours completed between November 1, 2025 and October 31, 2026. If you are still short on hours, now is the time to finish them.
What the CE Requirement Includes
The Board of Realty Regulation recently amended the continuing education requirements in ARM 24.210.667. Here is what applies this year:
- 12 hours minimum. Every active licensee must complete at least 12 hours of continuing real estate education each licensing year, which runs from November 1 to October 31.
- Supervising brokers. 4 of your 12 hours must come from an approved Supervising Broker Update Course.
- New salespeople. If you are a salesperson licensed for less than 12 months, no CE is required for your first renewal.
To see the specific changes in the rule project, review Montana Administrative Register Notice No. 2025-125.
Avoid a Common Renewal Snag: Your Address
When you renew your license this year, enter your addresses this way:
- Address line 1: Your brokerage address, including city, state, and ZIP.
- Address line 2: Your physical address, including city, state, and ZIP.
- City, state, and ZIP boxes: Leave these blank.
